We decided on the boiler. We’ll spend more at the outset, but we’ll hope never to spend again, and we will end up with something that’s both classic and in keeping with what the house ought to be.
So then we needed to settle on the rads.
I admit that initially I was leaning toward something modern, perhaps with a little retro touch, although I admit I hadn’t got very far with working out whether we wanted the real retro,
or something somewhat funkier.
I didn’t know where to buy them either, or whether they would work with the plan. In fact I didn’t really know anything about radiators, except for the fact that I didn’t like the ones that came with the house.
Turns out the spouse had other radiator ideas. And the spouse was right.
We’re not going retro, we’re going real, with old cast-iron radiators that look like nothing now, but will be wonderful after they have been sandblasted, finished, and then painted. We bought half of them today from a store that’s closing , and spouse will order the rest up tomorrow. The bottom two floors have decorative patterns, while the top floor will be plain, but elegant.
Of course that prompted a serious debate about the final color, but I consider that a good day.
Two decisions made.
Only 999,998 to go.

I approve too!
